Cole is here

My new horse has arrived!

Cole made the 4-hour journey from Indiana to Ohio yesterday morning. It was his first trip in a trailer, and he was a bit stressed from it. Poor guy was simply dripping with sweat when she unloaded him.

We put him in his new stall, and he nibbled his hay, greeted Ranger and the mule and started to relax.

About an hour later, I left to get some lunch. When I came back, he seemed quiet, so I thought I would show him around. He was so well-behaved, I was quite shocked. Cole has manners even when he's been stressed!

I think I got a good one!  I'll be writing a more comprehensive article for my newsletter, next week.

I was so happy today at work, and then I called my sister who was at my house visiting Dad. She told me Thunder was acting strange. It sounds like urinary blackage. I made an appointment at the vet tonight. That really took the wind out of my sails. I am back to normal, worrying about my animals.

Hurray!

I am taking the day off of work tomorrow to go riding with my sister---and wait for my new horse to be delivered!  This is so exciting--and I'm much more nervous than I expected.  I hope everything goes all right. I will let you know on Friday.

Long weekend

I just had a wonderful 4-day weekend. My sister and I got to ride together each day, and the weather was perfect. Everything was very uneventful, and I have nothing to say about it.

I do know when I am getting Cole. She will bring him over on Friday. That works out nicely because it is a holiday weekend for me. i am really looking forward to it.

I got the garden tilled, but the next day, we got so much rain that it is now too wet to plant. It is going to be dry all week, so I should be able to get something done by the weekend.

Cruiser has hives

I haven't been able to ride Cruiser since last Friday.  Cruiser, who always gets seasonal hives, got a few in the saddle area.  They burst open and were getting yucky.  On Monday, I called the vet to see if I could try the steroids that I used the last time.  She said it should help.  Sure enough, they are all dried up, and now the sores are healing.  I have been leading him up and down the hill that leads to the river for exercise.  I am hoping that I will be able to ride him this weekend.

I did ride Starry and Ranger on Sunday.  Kevin said I can have Starry this weekend if I still can't ride Cruiser.  Now, that's a great boyfriend.

No word on Cole and his operation.  I can't wait to get him.

Smokin Cole Train

He's mine! He was just what I expected--but with a terrific temperament. I am really going to get along great with this horse. He is 14.2 and quite chunky--I mean I never did detect a single rib. He looks so Morgan--even though he is 25% Arabian. He trots so pretty. I just loved his trot.

I think I over compensated for Mingo. I went from a black horse that I couldn't put any weight on to a black horse that I have to get the weight off!

He is very stunning if you are a fan of the old-fashioned Morgan, and I have been my whole life.

He has to be gelded, and then she will bring him over. I can't hardly wait.

Excited about the weekend

Tomorrow is the big day--my visit to see my possible new horse.  I sure hope he looks as good in person as in his photos.  I have always loved those old fashioned Morgans, and that is what he looks like.  My first horse was an old-fashioned Morgan, and he got me hooked.  Of course, the horse I am looking at is 25% Arabian, but he still looks more Morgan than most of the Morgans I see around here.

Anyway, I am pretty excited.  I am going riding in the morning, and then me and my boyfriend will head on out to see him.

I hope I have good news on Monday.

Going to look at a horse

Well, this weekend, we are going to drive out to Indiana to see a horse.  He is a 4-year-old Morab stallion.  He hasn't been ridden, yet, but he has had groundwork.  If I buy him, he will be gelded.  I have seen a lot of pictures of him.  He looks more Morgan than Arabian, but that isn't surprising as he is a 75/25 cross.  (Cruiser is 50/50.)  He's 14.2 and black.

I hope he looks as good in person as he does in the photos.  His owner said that he is well mannered, which is very important.

I could have a new project, soon...
